When I began working for a doctors office, I began working on these terms " these weeks will just be a test for us to see if your good" what that means -i wasnt really hired at the interview they just wanted me to show them how i operate in the company. The problem was I work there for 6 months and there were constantly harrassing me -saying all these discriminating words about my culture and how I dont drive a car and they would always find something to bully me about,
I have had past education background and past employemnt qualifications for the "position" but because I was European I had a less pay, as a Medical Biller, $9.00 an hour -
when a random girl came in and interviewed with the doctor and had no whats so ever expierance or education and had received $13 an hour, so I spoke up and the doctor just told me-"you can get a raise because you dont work for me long enough-when ive been there 6 months already and no sign of raise or benefits.
Also, the office manager always

she always found a way to accuse me of stealing-office checks stamps and etc, where on my life i never touched any of that stuff-unless she told me to stamp envelopes-it was this constant abuse and then one day--one of the "princess" doctors came in and wanted me to bring her cofee to her table wash all her glasses cups dishes etc. and I began tinking Im a Medical Biller -Medical Assistant and a Maid...
I began to hear rumors how I was very stupid and not worth working for them -but I was doing a great job -but with washing all those dishes-of coarse things ddnt get done- I spoke to the doctor about this plenty of times and he just told me " dont complain-its not that bad.

So I just quit and my boss the "doctor" called me and told me that it is illegal for me to quit and held my paycheck from not getting paid.
Is there a way I can call a laywer and get some help from anyone out there??
Please help anyone anyone....

They are just continuing their bullying and that atmosphere was absolutely ridiculous. You can quit at anytime you want to, its just proper etiquette to give two weeks notice, but if your circumstances warrant immediate departure then its just what you have to do. Definitely consult with a lawyer, they have absolutely no grounds to keep the money you've earned and are owed. In addition to that, talk to that lawyer about discrimination and harassment, and when your lawyer contacts your boss make sure he uses words like "civil suit". They may owe you something for your pain and suffering.

Don't bother with a lawyer or anything else. Contact your state labor board. They will get your paycheck and penalize them for illegally withholding your check. If you want more than you paycheck out of them, get a lawyer.

At will is irrelevant and only protects employers. Unless you were a contract employee, they have to pay you. Every state has different laws regarding payment after self-termination but that only indicates how long they have before they pay you (i.e.: 24 hours, 3 days, etc.).

Consider filing a discrimination complaint with the labor board too.

check your contract!! if you don't have a contract you are a "at will employee" and you can be fired at any time, you can also quit at any time, where you have only been there 6 months I wouldn't even give a 2 week notice, (expected but not required!!!)

I can set you up with a sales opportunity in the united states if your looking for income interested

slavery has been outlawed in america. of course it isn't illegal to quit. tell them you're going to sue for back pay and punitive penalties and report them to better business bureau, the ama, and the state labor department. If they don't change their tune quickly, consult a lawyer

Get a lawyer and gather up your evidence. You will see how quickly they change the tune of their song.
