I was employed from Employer A from Jan 1st 2006 to Mar 14th 2006. From the 15th Mar 2006, I have been working for employer B. I have not received my W2 from employer A but have the W2 from empllyer B for 2006.

I am trung to get in touch with employer A but with no luck. Is there any other way that I can get my W2 for 2006 other than contacting my previous employer?

You can contact the IRS and tell them specifically what you have done to attempt to get your W-2. As companies have until February 28 to legally file the governments copies, you may have a while to wait.

If I were you, I would send a certified letter, return receipt requested (will cost you about $5). In the letter state that you have not received your W-2, that you have attempted to contact them many times and that you must have it to file your taxes. Keep a copy and keep your receipt from the post office for the letter. (also make sure you keep the return card when you get it back).

Do you have your last paycheck stub? Most tax places will file using that info 'in lieu" of your W-2. Just be prepared to file an amended return if the W-2 ends up being different from the info you file with.

If you send the certified letter, and you still do not get a response, contact the IRS and make sure they get a copy of your letter & proof of certified/return receipt. The company can get fined for failure to file in a timely fashion.

Good luck.
