My son is 17 1/2 this Summer and wants to have a holiday abroad with a few college pals. He was hoping to travel to Greece to stay with some family friends. So he's looking for a flight only. However, all the flight companies we've tried expect an over 18 to be travelling in the party.
Are there any travel companies who take bookings from 17 year olds? Or are there any ways around this? (Apart from obviously taking an "adult")

Yes, he can travel alone! Most airlines will accept him unacompanied. Usually, 14 and under are accompanied.

All the best!

If he has a passport, no prob.
If you are EU member state citizen, and if your son intends to enter greece with an ID only, the Greek police may inquire a document -duly signed by the parents- that grant permission the the boy from the parents to travel abroad

you're flying as an "unaccompanied minor". It in many cases relies upon on what airline nonetheless, in case you fly with Virgin Atlantic, you'll be sixteen in the previous you're no longer classed as an unaccompanied minor. From the a while 5-sixteen you would be watched via cabin team and monitored for the duration of your flight. Plus, once you arrive at your trip spot, somebody from the airline would be there that can assist you thru luggage declare and immigration. As you're seventeen, you may trip on my own yet you will choose your parents permission. I trip unaccompanied six cases a 365 days from l. a. to London and vice versa.
