it could be, this late in pregnancy there isn't much room for the baby to move so he/she won't move so much and backache is a sign however if there are less than 10 movements in 12 hours you should contact your midwife.

It sounds like the baby is just settling into position. Babies do tend to slow down quite a bit in the last few weeks before delivery, but you should be checking for movement and and alert your doctor immediately if you are not feeling any.

The pain you feel right now is probably related to the way the baby is positioned but I could certainly be wrong!

Women get all kinds of odd aches and pains in the last weeks of pregnancy and we all worry about them. However, you should not hesitate to call your doctor or midwife if you have any questions or concerns - no matter how silly you might feel your question is. That's what they are there for.

keep an eye on the movements its not uncommon for a baby to slow down towards the end but should still move at least 10times.
the dull back ache is how mine start, its hard to tell if its just a bad back or the start of labour so again keep an eye out for your plug to go ( not everyone notices this so dont worry if you dont see yours ) or contractions to start which may just feel like period pains at the beginning.with some tightening around your belly.
you could phone the midwife for advice at 38wks you may find she would come to you and check you over mine have done in the past.
good luck x x x x

first of all 38 1/2 is considered full term so if you were to deliver right now, your baby would of course be fine. with my 1st baby, the movement stopped pretty much all together the day before i went into labor with her. so it could very well be a sign if labour starting. with my 2nd pregnancy, my baby was moving all the way up until it was time to push him out. so i guess it depends. and just for a better peace of mind for you, he was born at 38 weeks and was fine. he weighed 7pounds and 15 ounces.

I'd say that your baby has moved into position in the birth canal. You'll be delivering very soon. Congrats and good luck!
