If girls wear pants no body bothers. If a boy wears a skirt he is ridiculed, why?

I suppose unconsciously people see a girl wearing trousers as taking a step up in the social hierarchy. A boy in a skirt is seen as taking a step down. It's very much about gender specific clothes rather than their design. In Scotland and Ireland boys in kilts isn't a problem, boys in skirts would be tarred and feathered.
I have to admit - this is one crap answer.

well if you have been to england you will find the queens husband the Duke of Edinberg wearinga skirt (kilt) which is a traditional scottish dress.you would have seen pied pipers wearing it during parades or march.so if you want to wear a skirt you can always wear it and start a style statement.
