Sarkozy answers that France neednot feel ashamed of its colonialist past, and that the children donot have to answer for their fathers' deeds. What makes France so special that it requires others to recognize war conditions as genocide, but doesnot apologize for its own sinful past? How come Turkey has to answer for the deeds of a monarchy buried in history, when the citizens of the same and only France neednot feel ashamed of anything whatsoever? Is there something we don't know? Are the French some kind of superior race? Wait, can't be, that would be racism, wouldn't it?

That does seem a hypocritical stance, given that France recently made it a crime to deny the Turkish genocide of Armenians.

That said, I feel you are equating Sarkozy with France in order to turn a reasonable query into a rant against the French.
