It means yummy! Started as opposing to British - British/continental. Island/continent. British breakfast - tea, jam, and a toast, continental - a lot of different things. The same "continental" way of life, lifestyle, that is, a lifestyle opposite to the British. Then it spread all over the world, with the general meaning of "Continental Europe".
