According to the UN study, 3% of Scots had been victims of violence, compared with 2.8% in England and Wales and 2% in the United States.

Japan was the least violent country with just 0.1% being attacked, followed by Italy, Portugal, Austria and then the Netherlands.

I'll vote for Antartica as the least violent and the USA as the most violent. Apart from being the most heavily armed country on this planet, it also has the death penalty on its statute books, not for the worst offenders, but for those who cannot afford the best lawyers.

Violent as in street crime - Japan is renowned for being a very safe country for its residents....if you mean as a country as a whole I would go for Switzerland being famous for neutrality and turning a blind eye
