Now that both California and New Jersey have passed the Paid Family Leave Bill, do you think that the other states will follow? Is it a good idea, in your opinion?

I think it's a good idea, but I'm sure Congress will put certain restrictions on a national bill, such as size of the company, & the ability to have a tax break to companies who "lose" worker hours and who also pay for the benefit. It would be interesting to know how they finance the bill. I think family welfare should come first. If we can't take care of them not too many institutions will.

A few of the states might. Then again, I live in a state where the minimum wage is about 1/3 that of the Federal minimum wage and companies can, by law, decide to reject Unions.

What I couldn't figure out is why we needed to sign about 10 documents on the unpaid Family Medical Leave Act. Since we aren't getting paid for that time off, why was all of that paperwork necessary?? Does it really take that many documents just to keep from getting fired for taking one week off after the birth of a kid?

Okay, that's enough of a rant for today. I feel much better.

yes I think it is a good idea.

No, I doubt if other states will follow. It needs to be supported with Federal tax incentives for businesses.
