Lamarck's theory of acquired characteristics said that characteristics acquired throughout one's lifetime would be carried on to offspring. For instance, giraffes which stretched their necks to reach leaves would give their long necks to offspring, and muscle builders would give birht to offspring who would be muscular as well.

Darwin said that heridity was through genes that we pre-determined,a nd that evolution happened throuhg natural selection, or the selection of the best genes adapted for the envirnoment.

Lamarck had a hypothesis that didn't really take off due to it being disproven. I'm not sure on the number of hypotheses but Darwin only had one theory of evolution, although it is now quite different due to the discovery of Mendelian genetics and whatnot. I think you're misunderstanding the use of the term 'theory' though. It's used in science to describe a concept that covers one or more hypotheses and laws with enough supporting evidence to consider it accurate. It isn't used to describe an idea or suggested understanding of something as it is in common speech, that is called a hypothesis in scientific language.

Lamarck's theory in part was a "need" theory; Over time, an organism either developed or lost a body part depending upon whether or not it was needed or used.
( Lamarck's theory was disproved by August Weissman).
Darwin proposed that organisms changed and developed according to a systematic and logical sequence of events, and not based upon whether or not it used or didn't use a particular part of its body; Summary:
Overproduction-->Struggle for existance-->Variation--> Survival of the fittest (natural selection)-->Origin of new species.

Jean hypothesised that acquired characteristic were inherited. Charles said no, the characteristics were innate and selected by fitness to the environment or maybe sexual selection.
