I quite fancy buying a frog as I have wild ones in my garden pond. What else could I keep in this tank? I have two children so no snake ideas please!

BTW I have a hamster already so would be thinking about something with no fur or very little water! Thank you :)

As expected... fish has passed on. Just about to clean out the tank. Not so keen on the terrapins or the ant farm but keep those ideas flowing please! Thank you!

Fire bellied toads are very easy to keep (probably one of the most easy amphibians) and don't need a massive amount of water or specialist equipment. I have three and they're really entertaining. Salamanders are also quite easy to care for and don't need a huge amount of water.

If you can stretch to a heat mat leopard geckos are great! They are very entertaining and simple to care for.

African giant land snails are great for kids and easy to care for but if you get more than one you'll be overrun!

I wouldn't suggest terrapins as certain types can grow very large and pet shops often don't know what they are selling.

Good luck!

We have an empty fish tank too - had to give our fish away as we are moving country soon. We were thinking of getting some crabs that we saw in a pet shop when we are settled again. They were cool, red with blue claws! The tank will be easier to keep clean than when we had fish as it, obviously, won't be full. Just an idea for you.

try an ant farm!?
it Willl look amazing when its full of soil, and ants, because after a short while the ants wil dig their tunnels etc and you can see it perfectly through the glass, kinda like looking down on a busy motor way section from a birds eye view.
cheap to feed as well, and if nothing else, it will keep the kids entertained watching the ants go about their daily chores of making routes and homes for themselves.

My 12 year old has a corn snake, they are really easy to look after, friendly & look good too. They only eat once every 5-7 days so they don't mess much & don't need cleaning out every week.
They Don't make any noise. One of the best pets for a kid I think.

Dont give up hope yet if your fish are sick and dying...give them a chance to recover. If they do die you might want to restock you tank with more fish. You could buy the small species of frogs but remember they are amphibians......Get some tips from the pet shop dealer.

You can make a terrarium, an enclosed plant biosphere. This can be shared with a frog or small turtle but make sure the plants used are appropriate for the animal. Or just have the plants and decorate it with little paths, a bridge etc... much easier to care for.

Set it in the water and wait 40 5 minutes. -After 40 5 minutes, verify the water exterior of the bag, to the water in the bag. If it relatively is with reference to the comparable, you're able to do a million of two issues. -one ingredient is you may shrink a corner of the bag and enable the fish swim out on it relatively is very own, much less stressful for the fish, yet additionally could make your water murky. -Or 2, use a internet to %. the fish out of the bag's water and placed them into the tank heavily. it would desire to rigidity your fish, yet your water would be sparkling for the different fish. -Wait some hours, watch the two fish heavily, approximately 5 hours later you may upload the different fish. which you ought to to attend an afternoon, to make specific theres no tank aggression wish that facilitates, stable success sweety =D

I know it sounds funny, but rats are great pets. If you get them from a breeder and they haven't been harmed by petstore owner for example, they are wonderful. They pretty much NEVER bite and they form fun personalities. Most kids love them, but its the parents who have to get over being scared.
