Yes, carpet cleaning services usually offer upholstery steam cleaning. They can take care of molasses no problem.

try armoral wipes...the ones they sell for car upholstry. If that gets it out, that is great, but I have to say, call a carpet cleaning company at some point. (you can rent a machine from home depot, but it is not as powerful.) You want to have the upholstry cleaned professionally at some point, because nothing is as powerful as a cleaning truck in pulling "stuff" out of the upholstry. To clean it, and not get the cleaning solution out completely can do more damage than not cleaning it at all. Plus if you clean it by hand, you are not sucking any of the dirt out...you are just moving it around.

i use my carpet cleaner(hose attachmenrt) and add a little dawn dish soap to the cleaner soap...takes syrup/molasses out fine...no damage whatsoever...good luck
