Then how come people live longer today than they did before there were medications for everything?
Personally I do believe in using natural cures but my husband asked me this and I didn't know what to say.

First you have to understand one basic fact. There is no "cure" for any ailment in either natural remedy nor prescription medications.

Natural remedies and the people who research them have made incredible strides since any previous generations - and the research continues to this day - and will continue well after all of us living today are gone. So there is no comparing what is happening today with what happened in the 18th, 19th or even the 20th centuries. It is a pointless argument.

Almost all prescription medications were made from a plant or derivitive of a plant. Natural remedies whether herbal or homeopathic, come from the same sources - just not as highly refined nor as chemically concentrated.

Tell him to stick that in his pipe and smoke it.

People keep more active, They excercise, eat healthier and are more aware of their own health.
They have a more positive attitude and keep interested in learning
Actually if you use natural herbs and vitamins you would do better
many people may live longer but have a poorer quality of life to go with it. Many have heart conditions or are on dialysis or have to have oxygen.
Doctors are not telling us things like if you have a heart problem and take the statin drugs you need to also take CoQ 10 and magnesium or the statin drugs will deplete your natural production of these things and weaken your heart more.
Canada has passed a law saying that when Doctors prescribe
statin drugs they also have to prescribe CoQ10
Also people get diagnosed quicker and more accurately before they end up collapsing from things like a heartattack

IF doctors got more into preventative alternatives we could probably live even a lot longer

I think natural cures can be of help and can work with traditional medicine, but you have to be careful because some herbs do not mix well with regular medicine. I think there are several reasons we live longer, better food, vitamins, people seek help from the Dr. for health issues much sooner than did people fifty years ago plus they didn't have the skill nor medicines that we do today.

they arent better, at least for life threatening illnesses. most herbs are nothing more than sugar pills, people think they are working so they feel like their condition is getting better (placebo effect). theyre great for minor conditions though because in general they are often cheaper and safer (not always the case though) and they keep people from taking powerful drugs for minor trivial conditions that they probably dont need to be medicated for.
