Putting in the wrong ram can make your mainboard unusable Remove the stick of ram you already have in and ideally buy exactly the same .. that way you will be able to make it dual channel . There are also different types including DDR ,DDR2 and High Density/Low Density
Also if the computer is still under warranty doing this will wipe out any remaining warranty you have left . If this is so i would ask PC world how much they charge for installing another stick ..

That site Crucial.Com is pretty good and i'd be inclined to go with them rather than PC.World ( i know this from experience as it took me 4 phone calls and 4 different people to actually get some sense and that was the tech dept) Saying this i'll hold no responsibilty with which way you upgrade your computer .All i can offer is my advice . Will update if i can get more info :)

It seems to me that no matter what your PC you should get as much ram as your system will allow... I have a Micron computer and I just call Micron and they check my computer capabilities and told me what I could upgrade to.... perhaps if you call the company who manufactured your system?

I'd email Phillips and see which they recommend you should get. You can always shop around once you know for sure.
