LOL, i have an honarary doctors degree. but even my own religion would reject me.
Remember also, the religious leaders REJECTED Jesus too.
Hence he became the chief cornerstone even despite the fact he was rejected by the very people He came to be a Messiah.

Back in the days, the Roman-Catholic Church didn't allow you to read the bible because they were the only ones who were educated enough to decipher it. The idea that you should get a degree or to be in a position of authority in order to be a part of a religion or to be thoroughly informed is just plain ridiculous. But I guess it depends on why you're joining a religion. Are you doing it to impress people or to exercise your faith in God? Also, what if you're retarded or just too stupid to learn what you would need to learn in order to get that degree? Is an organization devoted to the service of God going to outcast someone because of their lack of intelligence? That's like saying someone's soul should be damned because a part of their physical body is weaker than others'. Besides all that s***, we have freedom of speech. You can claim whatever the f*** you want to claim. A claim doesn't have to be true. You can claim you're the king of Sweden and just be a shoe salesman in Hartford, CN.

I don't think so. Your beliefs come aobut from personal exploration and what you feel deep down, they're not things you qualify for. How would this work? Would people too poor or without enough free time to take a degree not allowed to be religious?
I agree that people should be made to question their beliefs, so that they understand others views and don't merely parrot what they've been preached, but there's too many problems with this idea you're proposing.

No, absolutely not. Being "religious" is having a meaningful conviction that there is someone greater than you and having a personal relationship with that person. In my case, I know I have a Heavenly Father who loves me very much. I am His son and He has sent me to this earth for a very important purpose. By understanding this purpose and following God, I would consider myself "religious".

Why the heck should you say that you are religious? If you have faith in a religion, join it. End of matter. Or practice it in silence. It does not matter. Just be happy with what ever you do. That is it.
