hi, someone left me negative feedback on ebay simply because I had left them neg feedback (they took forever to pay for item and ignored my messages to them). Ive left a reply to it in the feedback section but if people dont take the time to look they will just see 98% positive feedback which is crap. it used to be 100% and coz of one comment its gone down to 98. How do you build it back up and how long does it take? people wont trust me now

I totally agree as I have had the same thing just happen. I always sell items that are in good condition and describe them as accurately as I can - my seller record is therefore 100% 2 items out of 130+ however were really awful and when contacted seller they were both volatile/abuse/reluctant to refund. Left first what I thought was a legitimate neg feedback and got a tirade of abuse back which I reported to ebay. For the 2nd, I left neutral hoping to avoid conflict and still got negative back - yet as a buyer I paid on time and was always polite - it is so unfair. As the system is not arbitrated it is effectively useless - I now feel intimidated and like I cannot leave honest response - yet I cannot leave a response I know to be incorrect either. I now feel less sure of records than before too knowing that perhaps someone who does not have 100% may well have been the victim of an unscrupuplous seller who left vindictive negative reply. Totally sympathise with you - it is horrible when this happens. Great Q hoping ebay are watching.

people will trust you , i am in the same position as you, and have been for about 18 months, i have bought lots of items, and it does not put anyone off. it is a real pain though, i have got 2 do it again very shortly because i have not received an item and have started the process for that via ebay but i am currently holding off leaving negative feedback for him but i will shortly.

Basically you will always get the odd negative feedback eventually but you have to trust in the fact that most people are honest and the majority of people will do some back ground checking(i do) the odd 1 or 2 comments will not in my opinion affect you, it does not bother me if there are 1 or 2 but more than this then i would think twice about using the seller or contact them directly foran explanation.

Honestly dont give it another thought, people will see that you left your comment first and that his/her feedback against you is just a reaction to the bad feedback that you left, correctly.

The answer is you never will, because of the way feedback works you will never get a 100% again. I know because i have had similar, but i have never had a problem in trading either since. Most buyers will look through feedback before buying and make a decision based on the facts not the feedback %.

You can also have a feedback mutally withdrawn, but it still stays public for all to see

Ebay should look at its feedback policy as it is unfair in places for genuine ebayers.

For example if you have 5 neg feedbacks and they all say "was not me, they did not respond to my emails" i would think to myself that this seller is a bit dodgy however if the comments read something like. "item did not work" Response by seller " full refund given, our apologies" i would tend to trust them more.

You can normally tell a good trader from a bad one

You will have to sell another 50 items to get your feedback up to 99%. I think there can't be many people with perfect feedback, so perhaps you could just learn to live with it. Next time, maybe consider leaving a "neutral" feedback, but with a message which is explicit about the person's behaviour. If you really can't live with your negative feedback, you could start again with a new ID. After all, if you sell 50 more items you will be back to where you were before your negative feedback, which is better than 99%, and your feedback if you are careful will be perfect!

I dont think you can ever get it back to 100%. If you can its gona take a hell of a long time. Iv see people with 99% but they havnt had a degative feedback within the last 12 months yet sold loads of stuff all with possitive feedback.

Its a tricky thing with ebay, alot of people wont leave you feedback until you leave them feedback so you have to be diplomatic about it.. Click the possitive option but say something like "item as described though long delay in postage".. Well quite often if i read "item as described" i would take that as negative.

Bummer for your situation though.

But try contacting ebay about the situation and see what they say.

G luck

Hi this happened to me also. the only way you can have it 100% again is if you both mutually agree to both of your feedbacks being withdrawn. The comments will still be visable for people to read but it will go back to 100%. I wouldnt bother doing this though. as your letting the BAD ebayer of the hook. People will read your feedback but so long as the rest are ok i dont think you will have any problems. Someone gave me neg feedback when my feedback total was 53 Now only a year on its 890 and im now a powerseller.

here are the reasons for removal of feedback.

it doesn't sound like yours is in violation. sorry.

Feedback that meets any of the circumstances below is feedback abuse and may be subject to removal.
Feedback that doesn't meet any of the reasons outlined below will not be removed:

eBay is provided with a valid court order finding that the disputed feedback is slanderous, libelous, defamatory or otherwise illegal.

The feedback comment contains profane, vulgar, obscene, or racist language or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as "fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc., while strongly discouraged, will not be removed.

The feedback comment contains personal identifying information about another member, including real name, address, phone number, or e-mail address.

The feedback makes reference to an eBay, PayPal or law enforcement organization investigation.

The feedback comment contains links or scripts.

Negative feedback intended for another member will be considered for removal only in situations where the member responsible for the mistaken posting informs eBay of the error and has already placed the same feedback for the correct member.

Feedback left by a person ineligible to participate in eBay transactions, according to Section 1 of the eBay User Agreement, at the time of the transaction or the time the feedback was left.

Feedback left by a member who provided eBay with false contact information and could not be contacted. In general, the transaction period is considered to be 90 days from the end of the listing or 30 days from the date the feedback was left, whichever was longer.

Feedback left by a member who bid on or purchased an item solely to have the opportunity to leave negative feedback for the seller, with no intention of completing the transaction.

Feedback left by users who are indefinitely suspended for certain policy violations within 90 days of registration. eBay takes the position that members who are indefinitely suspended soon after registration shouldn't be able to permanently impact another member's account.

eBay will automatically remove feedback from members indefinitely suspended within 90 days of registration. Not all suspension types qualify for automatic feedback removal. For example, accounts that are suspended for non-payment of eBay bills and instances when eBay provides the member with the opportunity to fix the issue (and be reinstated), do not qualify for automatic removal.

There is no possible way of bumping it back up until someone else gives you good feedback. And don't worry I would still trust a seller who had 98% feedback. Thats still pretty fantastic and if somebody wants an item that badly, they will pay for it.
Don't you just hate getting stupid, arrogant people like that? Ppl will see your side more

You should of filed a dispute when he didn't pay. You still maybe able to file one. If he doesn't respond to the dispute then you can close it and Ebay should removed the negative automatically. Same happened to me. You will never get to 100% again but it doesn't matter anyway as long as people see that it was a once off it should be ok. Also it may be worth following up with a comment.

Why dont you go on the community voards on ebay there are other users like myself who help out people with their problem

you shouldn't worry about your feedback, its not about keeping it at 100% its about telling others how the transcation went, not to get and keep 100%

Dont be so worried other users can spot a retaliation feedback a mile a way

here is a link that will take you to the community boards just enter the room that suits your question best
good luck
