It starts at home by NOT teaching our children to hate or be biased. When children aren't biased they are more able to see things with an open perspective.
Educating our children, reading. Stop watching these pathetic sitcoms that many people actually believe is real life for other people. If we stop watching them then the stations will be forced to put on shows that are actually funny and mentally stimulating. Take emphesis off electroic equipment and media and back on the home and family where it belongs.
Stop looking for the quick fix. It doesn't exist. Any fix that will work is going to take time and patience.
Go back to the basics of what the founding fathers started. Smaller government, no career politicians, stop bringing religion into school. Stop telling people their religion is wrong, or that any religion is wrong (this goes for EVERYONE from the hard core Christian to the hard core Atheist). Make it possible for a parent to stay at home rather then have to work in order to help support a family if he/she chooses. Teach our children responsibilities and respect. These are all good starts to get ther US back on it's feet.

What the hell does this question even mean? How is American culture degrading and how have our founding principles been abandoned?
Well maybe we should follow the European model. Let's tax the sh*t out of everyone. Give lazy and undeserving people big social benefits that they don't deserve nor did they work for. Do something to double our unemployment rate so it's more in line with European levels. And continue to fund a social welfare system that is on the verge of collapsing b/c our people aren't producing children and we don't allow immigrants in to replenish our workforce. Then lets use the govt to mandate laws and tell people how to live there lives.
America may not be a perfect country and sometimes we elect really bad leaders and they do things most americans do not approve of, but we have never abandoned our founding principles. We believe in freedom and free markets and individuals have the power to accomplish anything they set out to do. I'm sorry if we don't embrace some quasi-socialists nanny govt like the rest of the developed world, but we believe individuals are the best people to make decisions for ourselves and not bureaucrats.

This is not the problem with the American society alone. There is a general degradation of values among all the human beings, world over. We cannot pride ourselves as better beings. We all need to improve ourselves. Love and selflessness are the keys to reforming ourselves.

How did people of the grass root states manage to stay grass roots? By staying focused on what is of value in this one time pass in life, this leaves little time to cure our ails. If we as a collective group have our way, they ( the grass root ) will buy into our ways of materialism, thrill-seeking, and all unecessary status items, that we deem so precious. We are being lead about by leaders, that we believe to be smarter, wiser, neglecting to notice our decline into human debree. A genuine leader can pull us out of the fire, if ever this deliverer comes, and comes quickly.

Give every person a chance at life again. Now, it seems only those that allready have or own have a chance, the rest of us will rent until we die. That is the case in Southern Calif. where housing is outrageous. People will continue to cheat, smuggle, or whatever to get out of where they are until it happens.

Grassroots is the problem with america.
Poeple change, things change and ideals change. things thought to be wrong of immoral years ago are not thought of in such a bad light now.. they are finally becoming accepted.
And if Grassroots didn't fight the changes everystep of the way, then there would be no trouble

By embracing Jesus Christ. This must start with the President and Vice President, then Congress and the Supreme Court. Once Americans see that these leaders have fully embraced Jesus Christ and are conducting their lives in accordance with principles laid down in the Bible, then the rest of American will follow suite.
