While it cannot be denied that Giuliani has enjoyed more name recognition from being Mayor during 9/11 he has other achievements to his credit. He was well known for his efforts fighting crime as a US Attorney. He is also credited with cleaning up the city of New York and revitalizing it as a tourist destination. So in my opinion his achievements would warrant a run for the Presidency without 9/11. What 9/11 does provide in his ambitions is an image of strong leadership during a major crisis and a devotion to security, both of these play well with many American voters.

Would George Bush have appeared to be a leader if not for 9/11? Rudy risked his own life to be at Ground zero to help New Yorkers that day. Rudy didn't cause 9/11, he just did his best to deal with the chaos.

Rudy Giuliani had presidential ambitions long before 9/11. However, he has shown a preference for exploiting 9/11, as many other politicians have (including "the decider"). My blood boils when they do this.

He most likely would NOT be had it not been for 09/11. BUT 09/11 showed the country that he could and can handle major problems that happened without warning. Thus he has what it takes to be the President of this country. He'd make a far better President than what we have now.

Rudy won't even get the Republican nomination. Neocons will knock him out by Super Tuesday. He supports gay rights, abortion rights, anti-handgun control legislation--all opposed to the party platform. As for the note to Osama, bad idea....What's his mailing address?
