Do you believe that the scenario presented in the movie "Mr Smith Goes To Washington" had taken place in real life, that there is any chance at all he would have won in the end?

Never. They movies would have you think there was a simple time of honestly and fair play.

There was no such simple time. People have always used media to protray themselves in good light. Such as the settlers attacked by "native americans". The settlers were the intruders, the settlers sold guns and alcohol to them, raped the woman. Corrupt officals took prime land for gold mining and gave them dry and unfarmable land.

Governments lied about loans to Hitler. More lies come over the deals with Japan over China (a western ally in 1936).

Mr Smith would have been buried and ridiculed by lawyers.

If you are refering to the movie where Jimmy Stewart does the one man filibuster then the answer is No. That was a simpler time when most people in this country knew there was a difference between right and wrong. Now a days we are not all clear on what the definition of the word "is" is.

The United States remains, for the moment, the most powerful nation in history, but it faces a violent contradiction between its long republican tradition and its more recent imperial ambitions.

The fate of previous democratic empires suggests that such a conflict is unsustainable and will be resolved in one of two ways. Rome attempted to keep its empire and lost its democracy. Britain chose to remain democratic and in the process let go its empire. Intentionally or not, the people of the United States already are well embarked upon the course of non-democratic empire

Yes he would have.

Old Jimmy Steward (not that young you see) did a practice that is perfectly legal. Filibuster I believe it is called. Only if he could have gained enough support of not only the Senate but the voting public that had an interest in this issue.

No. He would be killed by someone in the FBI/CIA. He would be eliminated before any real harm came to the special interests.
