Hi, I went a couple of years back to the live show in Cardiff. As a Rocky Horror virgin, I was a bit scared to say the least. My boyf persuaded me to dress up with him (think he was a bit of a closet Tranny!!!) so I did, but not too over the top.
When I got there, about 20-30 per cent of the audience were dressed up. There was a lovely atmosphere and I didn't feel out of place. It also looked like the people who weren't dressed didn't feel out of place either.
There are certain points in the production where audience participation is expected. You can get a list of the things to shout and when (plus things to throw, like rice!) on the internet, but again, it's optional. I didn't bother, personally.
A few people got into the swing of it, but I was listening to a programme on Radio 4 just a couple of weeks ago that said it's kind of dying out. You'll probably get a few hardcore fans who will shout, throw stuff and generally go mad, but most people won't be, so don't worry!
Hope you enjoy it. I certainly had a great time and bought the DVD afterwards.

We went on a bit of a works outing a couple of years ago and it`s a fantastic night out. Dressing up is certainly optional and as for everyone going mad well i wouldn`t say mad exactly but a lot of people do get into the fun spirit of the show and before you know it you will be doing the time warp.

1) You don't HAVE to dress up.
2) Don't let him tell the crowd that you've never been, or you may end up on stage with a maxi pad taped to your forehead.
3) People go nuts while watching, but it's all in good fun.
God, I haven't been in years.....

I went to a ghetto production of the RHPS a long time ago at a crappy theatre. It was a joke. But that's what made it so funny. You do not have to participate but many will. It just depends on who is doing the production I guess.

Its not compulsory but its worth the effort. Nothing like seeing a bunch of very masculine guys in stockings, high heels and basques!! Just don't be boring and go as Janet!

I went to one and did not dress up a few did, but not everyone. In the one I went to they have the audiance say things with them and it was fun. Only dress up if you want to. A couple guys were wearing corsets in the audience. :)

dress is optional, but be prepared to see lots and lots of people all out. also, bringing props such as toast, newspaper, rice, squirt gun, etc. poeple get really into it and use the props along with the movie. have fun! it's a blast!

I have not seen the show, but I have heard that you had to be prepared to eventually get wet... Well my source is my mum who saw it years and years ago, so it might have changed since.
