Richard Gasquet has the potential. He might be the next one to dominate tennis since he also has a good all-around game. He was the first youngest player to enter top 100 in 2003. He also finished as the no. 1 junior in 2002.
But i think Nadal would replace Federer on the top since he's the closest one, in terms of points, to Federer. Nadal was the second youngest player to enter top 100 in 2003. But i don't think he would keep the no. 1 rank for a long time. He probably wouldn't dominate tennis like Federer is doing right now....

I think that with his performance in the Australian Open, Andy Murray should be on your watch list. Sure Nadal beat him and there are better players currently (Roddick, Blake, Nalbandian and surprisingly, Fernando Gonzalez), but if Federer continues to play at as high of a level as he is, nobody will replace him for a few years. And at that time, some of the excellent players now will be a bit too past their prime. Especially if most practice only with the goal to beat Federer; other players will come out of nowhere and surprise everyone.

People are dreaming to believe that Roddick will topple Federer. I think we saw in the Australian Open that Federer is in a different level than Andy. Don't get me wrong. I like Andy. I just think that he can ever be as good as Federer. If players only played in clay, I think Nadal would beat him to number one. The only reason Rafa is #2 is because the clay season is way too long.
And yet, I think the french will be federer's this year. There is no one in the tour right now that could take the number one spot from Federer right now. Maybe in like three or four years, but not in the near future.

I think either Nadal or Roddick will replace him. But of course, Federer is showing no signs of letting up, he's hard to beat, so it could be a young tennis player that takes the tennis world by storm. Perhaps something like Tiger charging into the golf world.

simply put, anyone who even takes longer than a second to admit that federer is the best ever,by as far as it gets, shoud never make a judgement on anything in tennis.
just keep in mind that he beat the top three players after him -roddick,hewitt and agassi -from 2004 to 2006, 22 times to zero defeat.(nadal is a special case).if anyone can do that in this century ,I'd be amazed.so peolpe say that he maybe detronned in three years cause sampras lasted six years on top,and they think federer can't last more .fed will definitely stay n #1 til he is at least 30.I'm a stock broker, and if there were a federer stock,I'd put most of my money on it for the next five years.don't
expect a young player to be that phenomenal for the next 100 years.I bet my head he'll win more than 20 grand slams.nice to talk to you

of course the one who's going to replace the "best" would be the "second best". I think Rafael Nadal will be the one to replace Federer but like what you said, that's gonna take a couple of years.. in my calculation, 3 - 4 years.

I say Nadal won't until he gets a new coach. I think Murray is more likely to succeed him. Djokovic is a good chance though.

Roger Federer is no where near being toppled he is still quite relatively young! Andrew Murray has the best chance as he has the coach to carry on plus he has cut out all the bad parts from his game and now has a excellent standard of fitness! Cant realy see past him at the moment

Donald Young. In about 5 years. Won the boy's 18's at age 15. Is struggling on the tour now but he has the brightest future out there.
