The day I travelled back to see my home in the Emirates after 8 years of leaving it....it was the weirdest gush of childhood memories and an incredible feeling of coming home and serenity.

Well...if you mean like just to go back and be able to enjoy that day again...it would be this one summer day when i was 11...when my brothers, my friends and me just hung out all together, just having a great time...it was one of the nicest memories of my life..
But if i had the choice to really go back in time for a day...i would go back to a day when i made a really big mistake..that i still regret everyday of my life...so, if i could, i would go back and change it...

My 8th birthday. It was pouring rainy day (actually, monsoon!) and I was in school. After school, I was taken by surprise when my older brother showed up to pick my up from schooll (which he never did on a daily basis) with an umbrella. He helped me carry my books towards home. Excited and thrilled knowing that there is a birthday present waiting for me at home, I asked my brother what I was getting for my birthday. He said, "oh, you know, a big pencil case with lots of new pencils." And then he added, "Oh.....can I have one of your pencils?" Out of my excitement, I said yes, ,sure.
When we got home, I realised that I lost my shoe. I took it off and put it in my bag to make sure they didn't get wet. But I lost my shoe and it was the only pair of shoes I had. We were poor. My brother volunteered to go back out in the rain to look for my shoe. So at home, I celebrated and oogled over my shiny new pencil case with lots of pencils. My brother came back over an hour later.
I never gave him the pencil I promised him to give him. Not because I forgot......but I just couldn't at the time decide which pencil to give him, so I thought "I hope he forgets."
That's the day I want to go back to. I want to give him a pencil. And I don't think I thanked him for getting my shoe back.
God, that was ages ago....and I'm 34 now. But sometimes......you just can't forget an act of love that you wish you had given something back in return.

The day before my oldest sons father died. I would change it from just an average day . I would soak up every second of young love and the excitement of expecting your first child with your first love. Sometimes I can still feel it.
