'2' is the only even prime number - meaning it has no factors other than itself and '1' - and, while it fits the most-commonly available definition of a prime number, there's a great deal of debate as to whether it is, in fact, a prime number. The number, two, is quite close to being 'the magic number.' As is stated in a song by the alternative/grunge band, "Blind Melon," "Three is the magic number." Since two is one place away from three, it is considered by many to be close to three and, as such, nearly the 'magic number.' In electrical circuits involving an AC (alternating current) component, the 'RMS' current of a sine wave is the average current through the entire circuit. To find the peak current, one must multiply the RMS current by ~1.41428 - the square root of two. Two is the only number which has the property of equivalent solutions to its being squared and its being added to itself. For example, 2^2 = 4; 2+2 = 4. 3^3 = 9; 3+3 = 6. Two is the number of consecutive meteoroid impacts it would take to destroy all unintelligent, homo-sapien life from Earth. Intelligent life would have attempted to stop the first meteoroid impact and failed, at which point intelligent life would perish. Unintelligent life would exist, still, though be hiding in their holes for some time. The morono-sapiens would emerge from their holes, begin procreation and be impacted, once again, by a meteoroid. This time, however, they have no warning that this 'thing' from the sky can kill them, since there is no intelligent life to tell them so. Good luck and have a great day, - Christopher Karr

I agree with savage steve. The concept of zero made all other advancements possible. Infinity runs a close second.
