If you have windows Vista, microsoft have Onecare which is free for 90 days, that will keep you reasonably clear. AVG antivirus is free and great. But what I would recommend is the following, AVG antiviru, AVG Antispyware, Spybot, Adaware, Windows Defender. If you keep windows updated and all these updated then when you scan your hard drive if any virus's or spyware are detected, you should be able to remove them.

http://www.avast.com Go to this site and they have a Free Virus Scan on their Homepage and RUN it and get rid of anything it finds. It will show you what to do. AFTER you do that REBOOT and go back to Avast and download their FREE Virus Protector and install it. AFTER you do, REBOOT again and you will be set up and ready to go. It runs in real Time, and is a great program I have used for years with NO problems at all. I install it on ALL my friends computers and they are very happy with it. It is one of the BEST and FREE Programs there are.
