DS
Why may you ask? Because WOW the PSP can go on the internet, play movies, music, and games, but It cant do all of those things well.
Also the movies for the PSP didn't do too well so now not many stores sell them. Also there aren't as many good games for the PSP as there is for the DS.
And if you want to get the PSP because it has internet read this:

In Opera's agreement with Nintendo, Nintendo DS users will now be able to surf the full Internet from their systems using the Opera browser. The Opera browser for Nintendo DS will be sold as a DS card. Users simply insert the card into the Wi- Fi enabled Nintendo DS, connect to a network, and begin browsing on two screens.

Earlier this year, Nintendo reported that 13 million Nintendo DS systems were sold to consumers around the world within just 13 months of its debut in November 2004. Nintendo DS combines unique dual screens, touch screen, voice recognition and wireless and Wi-Fi communications capabilities. According to an independent market research company in Japan, Nintendo DS has become the fastest selling video games machine to top the six million sales mark in Japan in just over 14 months since its Japanese debut, breaking the old record held by Nintendo's Game Boy Advance.

"The incredibly popular Nintendo DS is already Wi-Fi enabled to support real time gaming, so adding Web browsing capabilities was a natural evolution for this device," says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President, Opera Software. "Gaming devices are growing more advanced and a great Web experience is becoming a product differentiator for gaming manufacturers. Opera is excited to work with Nintendo to deliver a unique dual screen, full Internet experience on Nintendo DS."

With an on-screen keypad and stylus, users can easily navigate the Web from their Nintendo DS with PDA-like functionality. Based on the same core as the Opera desktop browser, Opera delivers superior speed and rendering of Web pages on the Nintendo DS.

"Within just five seconds of turning on the system, the Nintendo DS is already fully operational. This makes it the ideal device to enable people to swiftly obtain the latest information from the internet, wherever they are," says Masaru Shimomura, Deputy General Manager of Nintendo's R & D Department. "Opera exceeded our expectations with its user friendly interface, quick access to all your favorite sites, ease of use and, most importantly, in making the best use of the Nintendo DS system's unique double screens and touch screen features. Opera is an important partner for Nintendo in our efforts to further expand the users of the Nintendo DS."

Also for the DS read this (if you like t.v.)

Perhaps even more exciting is an accessory that converts the DS into a television. Starting in April, a service called 1seg (pronounced One Seg) will begin airing digital broadcasts for mobile devices throughout Japan. A number of cell phones capable of receiving the broadcasts have been announced, and now Nintendo is getting in on the action with the tentatively named DS Terrestrial Digital Broadcast Receiver Card.

This card turns your DS into a television capable of receiving 1seg broadcasts. Channels are switched using the touch pen, with the broadcast viewed on the top screen. The prototypes Nintendo had at the press conference were running via the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot, but the final version of the card will plug into the DS card slot.

I heard they will be released in the U.S. a little bit later.

So as you can tell the DS is coming out with many new add-ons so my guess is eventually they will have movies for the DS and it is already able to play music like the PSP if you have the max media player.
Also for another advantage it is cheaper!

Hope I helped!
Have a great day

First, I have been into video games for at least 20 years, and have just about all of the systems (big wire mess by my TV!), so I am not just a kid or a fanboy. I bought both the PSP and the DS on the same day, about a year and a half ago.

Today, I have over 30 DS games and I play the system a few times a week. I upgraded to a DS Lite 6 months ago. For Christmas, btw, my ENTIRE family - mom, dad, grandparents, etc. - all got themselves DS' and the love it. We can play together wirelessly when we're together, and some games use WiFi so we can play over the internet when we're not. So, I get lots of use out of the DS.

I have about 5 games for the PSP and never take it out. True, it is a beautiful device, and the screen is big and bright, but the games are not compelling. They're often PS ports, with wonky controls. Also, they don't lend themselves to the "portable experience" - I can take the DS out, play it for a couple of minutes, then close it and put it away. Not as convenient on the PSP. The PSP load times are also incredibly long sometimes. I couldn't care less that the PSP does video and music - I have an iPod for that. PSP sales are down 75% in the 4th quarter last year - so it looks like the PSP has failed as a mass-market product. Sony will soldier on with it and its UMD disks, like they carry on with all of their other failed formats - betamax, minidisc, memory stick, etc. - but PSP is never going to break out and be a big success.

So, as you can tell already, I firmly believe that the DS is your better choice.

ds plays mario games and things like that and it has an easy web browser but if you prefer games for the psp like gta and things like that you can get that. psp has web browser movie player and music on it so the psp wins in more things to do on it so realy the ds and the psp are totaly different things all together. so its up to you to decide hope it helps. bye

PSP because it's graphic is good, some game are good too. I agree to the above that DSlite do have better games....but that is on the outside....

check the inside:
beside, mp3, internet, and watching video
did i mention that u can download FREE UMB movie from the internet AND GAME! rip vcd, dvd into PSP.
play flash game online using PSP. can dslite do that?

the best is it can play GBA, SNES....all ROMs game, PS1 game if u know homebrew.
with the latest custom firmware 3.03OE-C u can do the above! who know that one day u can download DSlite emulator into PSP and play dslite game.
try to make DSlite play PS1's game...what? IT CANT?
i rest my case!
