You shouldn't take any, I'm pretty sure that all it does is give you the runs. I don't believe that you can naturally induce labour, however attempting certain things may help pass the time and then when labour does start you could certainly feel as if you assisted it. Some people suggest sex and seeing as it will not have a side effect if labour does start, it's probably the safest to go with. I've heard of castor oil and hot curries too, but if your labour did start, you don't want a tummy ache and the runs on top of dealing labour.
What I would suggest is having nice long baths, relaxing massages, leisurely walks, a romantic dinner - things that you won't get to do for a while once the baby is born!

i had to laugh when i read this. Years ago - and i mean 16, i had incredible itching which lasted months. Drove me daft. I begged the consultant for a caesarian or to start me off but they said no and i went way overdue. My mom said her sister took caster oil and orange which was commen years ago so off i went to the chemist and got the caster oil. I blended orange juice with it so it was frothy and not greasy. Mom said that it will either start me off or give me diorreah. All night i was up with bad stomach and i lived on the loo. i didnt realise that i was in fact in labour. I didnt actually give birth until 18 hours later but i was told it didnt hurt the baby just as long as you are due but apparently the midwifes can tell if you used it. They didnt with me and it didnt do any harm as he is now a strapping lad.

Don't try it- unless you are already in labor- nothing will induce you! All it will do is give you HORRIBLE cramps and gas and make you pee out of your butt! Do you want to be doing that while you're in labor? Or even when you're not? Chances are- it won't work- if you're that fed up and want to induce- try something else (that probabl wont work) like evening primrose oil caplets or something- but welcome to lesson #1- it doesnt matter how miserable you are- babies will come when they are ready and there isn't anything you can do about it but sit and wait.

Don't do it by yourself. It's safer to let a doctor induce labor so that any problems can be caught early. Good luck with your baby.

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND LADY ???
DO YOU REALIZE THAT CASTER OIL MIGHT POSSIBLY CAUSE A MISCARRIAGE . DO NOT DO THAT TO AN INNOCENT LITTLE BABY WHO CANT DEFEND HIMSELF FROM A MM WHO IN MY OPINION IS TRYING TO KILL HIM OR HER

It made my gran sick and done nothing but put her off orange juice (she was told to take it with orange juice). I got told that its not the best way. Try lots of sex, worked twice for me, out of 3 babies.
