I have noticed this pattern - single men in the military, no matter what their age - are always ready to get married. Why?

I am in the military and I noticed this too. I am not married, but I recently got assigned as a tax specialist at my post and every day I see at least a few kids who have no idea how to do their taxes, as it's their first job, but they are married. 19 year-old kids and I find it very odd. My honest opinion is that since the enlisted ranks are generally of lower IQ than the average citizen they are more wiling to get married without thinking. I am being serious.

My husband is a 1SG in the army and I swear he is always having to councel young soldiers before they get married because of how young the men are. He actually sits them down and tells them exactly what they are getting into.
I am not sure if this is just a military trend though, as I see a lot of civilians who are married just as young. Most men in the army are considered old by age 35, my husband will retire at 38.

The military experience instills confidence in young men and the fruition into adulthood leaves them with the sensation of needing to do "adult" things.

They expand their horizons and run into women they have not met in their hometowns and that obviously impresses them.

because they are generally scared shitless that they will be sent off to war and never have know love or marriage or children that and it always nice to know there is someone waiting for you when you come home....and its not just the men that want the marriage its the wifes to (kinda ensures and reasures there love and monotomy!)

I think it has to do with their job and the possibility of death at any point in time. A young kid who dies on the battlefield has to leave a grieving widow. Or his death is not as victorious.
