I'm an island kinda girl.

We've seriously already planned out THE perfect vacation. Yes .... we. (me and the one I love) It wouldn't be the "perfect" vacation if one of the two planned it. It is the fact that you plan it together that makes it so perfect in the first place. If both of you are excited...... that makes it all the more significant.

So we fly into Athens, Greece. My loved one and I are obsessed with Greek mythology. We spend hours discussing the stories that helped the ancient people explain why things came to be. Both of us have wanted to visit Athens for years and years and years. We are bound and determined to do it together!!

We want to learn! We want to explore. We want to sit among the ruins and just close our eyes and imagine what life was like thousands of years ago.

After days of touring and seeing and finding and discovering...... we want to make our way to the Greek isles and bask in the sun for hours on end. It has always been our dream to do this. Live a life of leisure on the beach during the day, and celebrate with the culture at night! We both would be strangers in this land....... learning together...... and sharing our curiosity.

We then plan on crossing the sea over to Italy. mmmmmmmm The memories of my first trip to Italy have made the one I love beg for the opportunity to see it first hand. When told I was the only one that could show this land to them, I was convinced that this had to be part of our trip.

I'll show my love St. Marks in Venice...... the Last Supper in Milan...... The David in Florence....... that tacky tourist district in Pisa. (Who knew it was just like vegas!! No wonder that tower is leaning!)....... Sienna, Sorrento, Assisi, ....... Mt. Vesuvius..... Pompeii....... and the amazing island of Capri. We'll stop on this isle and make our way to the top. Look over the white cliffs into the bluest waters of Med you've ever seen in your life!!! We'll shop (did I really agree to this???) in the village and enjoy the cuisine at night! We'll get lost in the feeling!

We'll end our trip in Rome. following the aquaduct that leads us to the ruins. Standing where Caesar once stood........ touching stones that 2,000 years before had been placed by hand as they constructed the Coliseum. We'll end our perfect vacation by visiting the Vatican...... looking up at the celing of the sistine chapel and marvelling at the talent of so many before us.

I will make this trip if its the last thing I do. The places we'll go are amazing. But nothing will be as amazing as seeing the face of the one I love as her dream comes true. She's 11 and has been seriously saving her dog sitting and house cleaning money since she was 7 and decided this was where she wanted to go and what she wanted to do. I'm going to make sure she gets there!

I would go to the Hawaiian Islands. I've never been to the Pacific and have heard so many wonderful stories from friends who have. I love the ocean and I like warm and beautiful surroundings. I like history, too, and have wanted for so long to visit the monument to the U.S.S. Arizona. Over my years teaching I taught 3 students from the same family. A few years ago this family went to O'ahu, and the oldest boy was in my WWII class at the time. He came back so excited to share what he had seen and so moved by it all. I so admire the men and women of that generation and would love to stand in that place and just be part of it for a moment.

Anywhere where I was with her would be the perfect vacation, from Bagdad, Arizona to Bagdad, Kentucky to Baghdad, Iraq. As long as there was a day spa for her to go to and perhaps a traveling theatre troupe performing CATS.

My choice would be Aruba. I friend I work with went there on her honeymoon and came back with the most peaceful looking pictures - beaches of white sand, can see the the ocean bottom and the resort they were in had hammocks tied to trees on the beach to lounge in!!! To me that sounds PERFECT!!
