You could research on the web, but it is absolutely a fake. Reasons:
1) No one gives away money like this
2) email address at msn? They don't even have their own domain?
3) Googled for UK MEGA JACKPOT PROMO, found several sites with it listed as a scam: http://lottoscams.blogspot.com/2007_01_22_archive.html

That's a SCAM.

People can easily fall prey to get-rich gimmicks such as this lottery. The people behind this SCAM know that because of GREED, the temptation of easy money, many will fall for their trap.

The sad part is, the unknowing participant will never know that he is trapped until it's too late to get out.

Remember, easy money is never easy.

I don't know if that one is real. prob not. i got one from the Irish lotto last week that seemed really real. And all it would cost me is sending $1,600 for a company called TNT to send me my check. The item to be shipped weighed 15lbs, which is why the cost to ship was so high. i won 4 mill euro which is 6 mill canadian. Hope your luck was better then mine.

It could be that there has been an error, or your friend really entered the draw.
