It depends on the temperature of that day. If the temperature is in between the range, it can measure. Normally, minimum temperature of a day is less than 35 degree(even at hot summer season). Therefor, clinical thermometer is not suitable to measure minimum day temperature.

For measuring the maximum or minimum temperature of the day, a special purpose thermometer called Six's maximum and minimum thermometer is used.

The clinical thermometer is not designed to measure the air temperature accurately. And the mimimum reading is about 34 Celsius (94 F)
