No, the dependent variable is the variable the depends on teh Independent variable. Basically, as you change the dependent variable, the dependent variable is what will change.

Think of it as an x and y variable. To graph something, you change the values of x, and see what happens to y. That's pretty much what the IV and DV are. You change the independent variable, and then you see what happens to the dependent variable.
