I think it would be pretty useless, as there are other means to travel much faster and I think we'll see their development in the following decades.
One of those incredible ways to travel is known as the "wrap drive", which you probably heard of through Star Trek.
It consists in bending space time so much that the points a and b end up being at the same place for a few moments, allowing you to travel well, without moving.
At the moment it would take 6 months to go to mars, and that's just one way!
Last year, NASA said it would be testing an engine capable of taking to mars in a few hours, within 5 years.

Not through current methods. However the idea of a Star Trek type Warp Drive is technically possible.

The warp drive basically does just that, it warps the space around the ship so that the ship doesn't travel faster than light but the space around it makes the distance shorter.

It bends the laws of physics but doesn't break them.

However, science fact is always catching up with science fiction!!

It is totally impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, as Einstein's theory of relativity states that any object travelling so fast will have an infinite mass, become infinitely short and time would stop for them. The only thing possible is to use wormholes which may exist as predicted by the above theory.

However, there may be a way to travel faster than light: http://physicsweb.org/articles/news/4/7/8

But generally it is accepted that light speed travel is impossible

Yes but not for a long time
Albert Enstien has already given the starts of this in the theory of relativity the only problem being is a power source so massive for this. Though this is possible it would propbably be useless for example if something takes 500 lights years to reach you could do this as your time slows down but everyone back home would have aged more etc. Its not an instant theory our children or grandchildren will probably not see this happening in their lifetime

you've an incredible list & it truly is fairly not ordinary to proper it yet i will attempt some titles that you'll of over appeared. the element (1982) The make up outcomes in this movie speaks for it self Tron (1982) yet another gem contained in the 80's that deserve a thumbs up with its visuals. war of the Worlds (1953) This movie change into earlier than its time & triumphing an Oscar for particular outcomes change into the icing on the cake Blade Runner (1982) i will not in any respect stop staring at this Sci-fi classic ,via its brilliance and jaw dropping seen outcomes that made Blade Runner between the finest Sci-fi videos ever. Legend (1985) Ridley Scott really out did him self with this movie & to work out tim curry deliver to existence the nature "The Darkness" is a few element to behold continuously. 2001: an section Odyssey (1968) If this movie isn't pronounced in any Sci - Fi disscusion then you fairly dont understand Sci-Fi.

No, because as we travel close to the speed of light our mass would become close to infinity. BUT if we can "fold" space like a sheet of paper, cut and pass through the fold,(like stabbing a pencil through the paper) we can "seem" to travel faster than light since to distance travelled in real "unfolded" space is a vast distance and the time taken virtually zero. This is similar to the wormhole idea.

Light speed space travel will not be necessary to travel many light years due to the presence of "worm holes" which tear apart space / time continuum and allow movement from one time or space to another. Simply a small matter of finding worm holes and being able to control the physics involved.

It will never happen it:s strictly sci-fi.
The speed of light is an incident that takes time to occur.
It can go slower which gives it lots of time to occur.
When it tries to go faster it is trying to do something during a period of time that cannot exist.
If you take a second and split it in half, then half the half eventually you will reach a point where you cannot split it again,it will go out of existence.

Pure fantasy. We cannot travel through space at the speed of light. There is a theory that if we cant travel through space then why cant we make space travel through us. Weird stuff. Its strange to think that people get paid to look at and investigate this stuff.

To reach light speed, an infinate energy source would need to be created as an objects weight increases as it get faster, you could imagine the weight of a couple of hundred tonn spaceship multiplied by a near infinite number, so nope sorry, Spaceships no, unless a fantastic energy source is devised.
