If I am sitting in a restaurant alone I would be very offended if a guy invited himself to sit at my table, simply because I like to eat alone and don't like the company of strangers. No offense, but that is just how I am.

Hmmm, good question.
I've never seen a woman alone in a restaurant but I was in a hotel bar on my own one night and a woman asked me to sit with her. Quite innocent....just to have a chat while we were having a drink.
I'm glad she did that so if I ever saw a woman eating alone then I'd give her to option to sit with me. I think it's a nice thing to do but it could be misconstrued so you'd have to be careful how you ask.

First, how rude.....didn't you see my ring. Otherwise, maybe if you presented yourself politely and weren't arrogant about it then a big maybe, once again. Inviting yourself always implies you have an arrogant behavior and many men who have done so, even when I wasn't wearing my ring were turned down.....
I'm sorry if your question was toward men, but I had to answer that one, just to keep you out of my area in the future.....no offense.

No, because it would probably end up in an awkward position after she says:
"Get lost, Im waiting for my boyfriend!"
And then you would be distracted the whole night and attempt to not make eye contact out of embarassment!

Nope. That would be too bold. I would however ask if she would like to join me. My treat. Sometimes a little dinner conversation with a stranger is uplifting.

How rude and arrogant would that be! Unless I make good eye contact first, and she sends back good energy about it, then I might , but I don't like to force or impose too much in cases like that...First there has to be something special happening for me to do that second step.

I would walk over and say hi, hope you enjoy your meal....then it depends on if and how she responds as to what I do next...
