For all of you in favor of socialized medicine...?

What has our Government ever done on this scale and been successfull? Education? Welfare? Social Security? Taxation? Sad to say it but you have to answer no to all. If I'm wrong, please help me out here.

I'm just afraid that we will have a knee jerk reaction and pass something we will never be able or willing to fix in the future.

I'm dead set against it. What is the wait time for a routine check-up in countries that do this? Does preventive medicine even exist, and what is the motivation for people to WANT to go to medical school? Bad idea.
