Let's face it, the only reason untalented performers like Spears and backstreet became famous was because music execs shove them down the trhoats of every pre-teen/teenager in the world. But with the increasing MySpace infulance and Peer to Peer networks even the most suburban dork can find out about underground music. Music that would play at the South by Southwest fest or in closet clubs around the country. With these better options becoming more accessable to all children, will this spell the final end to crap like Spears?

When I say Ended, I mean for good. The theory I have for music such as "candy pop" being popular is the lack of options people thought they had. Bands like Modest Mouse, The killers, and Black Eye Peas have been around for a long time but just couldn't become famous until Music Execs let them. Even bands like the DMB had to do massive touring jus to get the word about them around. With the growing word-of-mouth use of the Internet, I feel this process will be faster.
Thus there won't EVER be another Spears due to people now having far more options right in front of them.
Hip Hop is also being changed in the same way. Gym Class Heros and Talib Kweli are finally getting respect like crap like Jibbs is are starting to fade.
