My motherboard accept both rams, but I have heard that DDR2 could perform less than DDR1 due to high latency in DDR2. However, that was in the past, theses days some newly manufactured DDR2 has less latency, therefore they can out perform DDR1.

My question is, HOW can I know that the DDR2 I am baying has less latency, is it written on it ? I want to verify my self without asking the shop keeper.

thanks

I'd suggest you research by brand to find out the specifics for a particular stick. If you know you want to buy your memory from Kingston (for example), go to their website and see what memory is actually suitable for your specific make and model computer. (Unless you built it yourself. Then I'd suggest going to the mobo website and use their "tech support", "contact us" or "help" link to talk to their experts.) You could also comparison shop at various companies to see if their recommended memory has the same specs as someone elses. Here's a few popular websites:

http://www.kahlon.com/ >some of the lowest prices
