Try this it's interesting...GM to Market Ethanol-Powered Trucks

GM to Market Ethanol-Powered Trucks
New Silverado, Sierra pickups hit market early next year

DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. plans to build full-size pickup trucks that can run on the ethanol-gasoline blend E85, and the automaker said Monsanto Co. has already placed an order for 50 of the alternative-fuel vehicles.

GM plans to begin building the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups early next year. The trucks can run on conventional gasoline and on E85, a blend of 85 percent ethanol with gasoline.

Monsanto, which produces genetically engineered crops, will buy the Silverado pickups as part of an ``ongoing commitment to the American farmer and renewable energy sources,'' said Ross Bushnell, Monsanto’s U.S. marketing director. Most ethanol used in the U.S. is derived from corn.

The Silverado and Sierra are the first full-size pickups that can run on E85. The automaker plans to build more than 1 million light trucks that can run on the fuel by the 2004 model year. In 1999, GM began making Chevrolet S-10 and GMC Sonoma small pickups with the alternative-fuel option. In June, the company said it also would sell Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GM Yukon and Yukon XL sport-utility vehicles that run on E85.

Vehicles that can run on the ethanol fuel also will fill U.S. Department of Energy requirements that government agencies buy alternative-fuel vehicles for their fleets. General Motors will begin marketing the Silverado and Sierra pickups to other companies and government agencies soon, Sedman said.

The Kharmmann Ghia and porsche 356 all share the VW chassis not to mention all those kit cars that use the VW chassis like the dune buggy.
