I have a sweater that doesn't fit me, can I shrink it in a wash machine? If so, what temperature should I go for?

It's made of wool I think (not sure about the word in english), Ive already washed these types of sweaters at cold temperatures without problem, so I guess I should do it in hot water.

cotton/ wool? poly blend? washing is the only step. your dryer. how small do you need to go? take it in steps. wash it and see, dry in a moderate heat to begin. it may "grow" back in size as you wear it. it it gets too small, stretch it and start over! good luck.

You need to know what the sweater is made of. It's best if you read the label inside the sweater and ask your local dry-cleaner. But the odds are that it will over shrink.

It depends on what it is made of you just might shrink it to much, I would you worm or hot water and if it don't shrink to much you can block it to the right size.

If it IS wool, wash it in hot water, and dry it in a hot dryer. I had one that I ruined this way from shrinkage.
GOOD LUCK!!

It's not the washer that shrinks your clothes, it's the dryer.
The washer just washes the clothes, it's the dryer that puts off heat and causes fabric to shrink.
Hope this helps.
