and when i compile a servlet program it is showing error at all the classes tht r under servlet package.there is no spelling mistake. what is the reason for this?

It means the files supporting javax.servlet.* package/namespace don't exist, perhaps you are compiling it on an SDK that is not J2EE to begin with?

may be the reason is that by which jdk u used for comple the java file in that jdk the servlet jar file is not included.include the jar file in the jdk under ext and then compile again
