If you had to pick between a Mexican made Fender Strat or a Burns
(Made in Korea) Brian May Red Special which would you go for?

This would be for playing jazz and jazz fusion style.

I only would buy the Brian May red special if you want or play Queen music style. The BM red special is really aimed at reproducing Brian Mays sound.
Though Jazz with Brian May style might sound actually quite cool if I 'm thinking now.
If you want to know how Brians red special also can sound try to find on the internet the VH1 "acoustic" set Brian May played for his Another World album(somewhere in 1998). There should be a torrent somewhere.

The Strat is more flexible regarding sound and it's comfortable to play. The Burns is... well it's a Burns. You don't wan to sound like Brian May trying to sound like Al Di Meola or even McLaughlin. lol And about the Strat being made at the Mexican factory, it shouldn't be a factor. I own a Mexican made Fender Jazz Bass and it sounds great. On an even lighter note, you'll sound really good playing La Bamba or La Cucaracha.
