How nice, I am glad to see some Americans are pro British and remember their history. I only wish that some Australians had your attitude. Well they can leave the commonwealth, and then England can always win the commonwealth games once they have gone, so maybe it is for the better.
George Washington's grandfather was born in England, his house is open to the public it is called Sulgrave manor, it is near Banbury, so that is perhaps why George Washington did not hate England.

It's a nice sentiment, but I don't see any reason to consider the Queen to be "our queen." The United Kingdom is a valued and valuable ally, and it's true that Americans are the inheritors of ideas of liberty and government born in Great Britain, but we are also the inheritors of ideas from ancient Greece, Rome, and other places as well. I admire the Queen for her steadfast devotion to her people and for performing her duties as she promised she would--"with an unwavering faith, a high courage, and a quiet heart."
To answer a query from below: I have never encountered an American who has expressed a hatred for the United Kingdom. Sure, there's a certain feeling of indignation about how George III and his government treated the American colonies that led to the war for independence, but all rational people realize that was a long, long time ago and don't hold a grudge. Most appreciate that the UK of today is a steadfast ally and has been a significant player in world affairs for centuries. While many feel that the monarchy is an archaic form of government, they're content to let that be someone else's affair.

Well for sure We pray God Save Our Queen! We all need saving.
I am a Canadian and we are still under the Queen here, but not like the colonies who are under the British Rule. However we have a Govenor General here who represents the Queen. I ask the Lord to save those in authority in many countries and definately Canada. The bibles instructs us to pray for those who are in authority over us. So you can also pray for the Prime Minister of England who is Tony Blair. Our court systems are the same as the British and also the Govenor General here is the commander and chief of our armed forces. We have a Prime Minister who is head of the Federal Government which is the same structure as the House of Commons in Britain.
I do not know too much about the British that ruled in the USA But I believe they had a civil war and the US won to get their Independance, is that correct.?

I would imagine that George Washington disliked King George, actually.
Nothing wrong with the Queen, of course, but she's not our queen anymore, nor is England the only country that our country is descended from. Parts of the south used to belong to Spain and Mexico, and about half of the country used to belong to France. That means we'd have a king, two queens, two presidents, and two prime ministers if I have my count right!

The fact is though that its not anti-english or anything else that matters, what matters it that we're not just ONE thing.
We're German, Native American, Swedish, Lativian, Russian, Irish, South African, Egyptian, Finnish, French, and an easy 100 other nationalities that mixed together to make a nation. That's the difference. We set out to be a melting pot.

I was unaware there was an anti-English feeling in the U.S. As an English woman in London I would like you to know how today there is an anti U.S vibe in the U.K and rest of the world, As George Bush is a pea brained war monger and this morning, the big news here is how he US has kept hidden the cockpit video coverage of US soldiers bombing English in Iraq. The question is, should so many people be praying for 1 women who has a privelaged life anyway, Queen or not?Bring on the Clintons pls.

Hmmm do the research. Our horrible Bush wacker is actually descendant of the queen, along with many of our other lovely politicians. Look it up it's true.. Food for thought. I love the british though, and I can see why many are anti US. Most of us are unhappy with the way our country is being run, but we have no control.
