Plug your laptop to the mains. While charging, the battery should not overheat. You can make out by touching it. if the battery is overheating, it means the "cells" are not accepting the "charge"& hence resisting the inflow of charge current, which eventually means that the "cells" have gone weak. If this is the case then replace the battery with a new one.

Looks like the battery is nearing its end of life.. If thats the case only solution is to replace the battery.

ur laptop battery should have 2hr and 25 minuts of backup if its only 30 minuts means the battery is gone just change it with new one .
if ur laptop is under warenty replace it with company
