I don't necessarily have low self esteem. I get comments all the time about my looks and decent personality. Even still I have low confidence, not really sure why. I'm a completely different person when I feel confident too. I just want to know the most effective way to treat this?

It depends on how the 'low confidence' manifests itself in your behavior. If undue anxiety is the result, then I suggest you talk this over with your MD or have him give you a referral to a shrink. Some of the antidepressant drugs are used 'off label' to treat anxiety disorders. There are also anti-anxiety medications available but some of them (the benzodiazapine family) are highly addictive - whereas anti-depressants are not. They work completely differently.

Don't be overly critical of yourself;ie,your looks, your body.Realize that there is a certainty beauty even in your flaws,in that it distinguishes you.Very important to learn to love yourself.Accomplish this by treating yourself with respect and so fourth.
As an self esteem builder, make a conscious effort to mentally identify some admirable qualities which you posses, and then take steps to accentuate these qualities.

Try taking on some new challenges. If you can succeed in these challenges, it will boost your confidence. And if you do not succeed, it's still okay because at least you can take pride in the fact that you had the courage to take them on.

Start saying to yourself, "I can" instead of, "I can't". And then just do it. Don't hesitate.

I have the same problem so you're not the only one around here. Some people would consider visiting a psychologist but that's a bit extreme.

Just start doing a sport, it makes you feel good.

First of all, don't even think that you are in a low confidence situation.
Just act naturally, if you had problem in performance.
Foolish and funny sometimes can make the ice breaking.
And remember, always smile and think positive.

I think that's all...
