If my married name is on my ID will my passport have to be changed to my married name too or can you travel with it in maiden name since the ID number stays the same? Please help.

If you're traveling soon, Why don't you call the proper people and ask them about changing your name? I don't think they want you to have 2 names, with all the things going on in the world now. Just call someone in an office and they should be able to tell you.

travel with your passport, I.D. card and your marriage certificate. the best thing to do would be to get your passport name changed before you travel. you will have to prove you are the person on your passport or you will not get back in the united states.

i was watching a boston legal episode and people with certain names are blacklisted from flying (the don't fly list) because they have the same name as aliases that the terrorists have used. to solve the terrorist problem, they just put everyone on the don't fly list with that name. and if you fight it, you can be put on the can fly list. but you don't even know if you are on it or not until you try to go somewhere.

i don't know if it's true or not but i wouldn't put it past the american government.

this story just reminded me of that. sorry.

your passport should be sufficient. Your local id is not valid internationally.
