I dont think the 2 are alike in my opinion. Being a fanboy to both of these characters. I would have to say that not only because of their difference in profession and weapon of choice as you so state, but of their character make as well. Sango is a brave strong woman who's bent on revenge. While Hinata is a shy girl who only gains determination to fight from inspiration by Naruto, which she secretly has feelings for. Maybe i understand on the similarlity when its with hidden feelings since sango has grown hidden feelings for Miroku despite of his womanizing and perverse butt rubbing. But thats all i see on them being alike.
