That's something I myself have wondered. I figure it is some kind of desperation. Maybe they aren't confident in the real world or perhaps they only feel comfortable talking to a girl over the internet. Conversation over the internet is much less personal and you don't have to look someone in the eyes. Also, rejection on the internet is a "block" button away, you get rejected, you block them. Some guys use chat rooms as a way to talk to girls that thier girlfriends will never find out. Though all in all, guys flirting in chat rooms has become a sociallogical norm and they may just be trying to fit in. Its best not to wonder why and my personal advice to you would be avoid chat rooms, they are for entertainment purposes only and new aged entertainment is "Click Here for Free Porn." I think young guys are chasing girls all the time whilst in their youth, and right up into their thirties! A chat room just gives them a little more room as they don't have to front up to their victims face to face! Have a good day hon!

Because online, guys don't have to be afraid of rejection. They never have to look you in the face, so if you shut them down, their ego isn't affected.

cos it's the easiest place to do so.
you don't easily feel the pain of rejection when you can't see who's doing so.
sadly though, you don't feel the REAL pleasure of success in the same situation either.
