Now see I disagree with these guys (not saying they were not comfortable), but I rode a buddy's Sportster home and it was an uncomfortable ride. Now to qualify my statement I should mention I ride a VTX 1800, which is a large/wide bike. Personally I found it to sit to high, and be too thin for my taste. Take the time to shop around and find the "perfect" bike for you. It will be there when you get ready to buy. Best 'o luck, and get out on the road.

Last year, needing to borrow a bike, my brother supplied a 100th anniversary 883 Sportster. Together, we spent the next 3 days in the saddle in Wisconsin touring. Well over 500 miles, I'm 6'4" and 250 pounds, and I was constantly amazed at what a great bike it really was.
Not perfect for me, but a really good bike. And capable at everything it did.
As far as dis'ing a brand, get real. The Harley twin is legendary for a reason. My Buell 1200 gets 55 miles to the gallon. Wheelies all day long. And it's all attitude. So beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

costly Mr. HD Williams. As you be attentive to, i'm continually rooting so which you may replace into the superb Harley Davidson spokesman ever. yet right here you have the assumption the superb option, however the information incorrect. The Sturgis adventure held in August could be for Sportsters in basic terms!! reason, Sportsters are the oldest continuously made bike in Harleys historic past. Please be attentive to your historic past. The Sportster became into presented in 1957 and has been produced ever on account that. Of all the Harleys made, the Sportster has the main racing wins. Does that strengthen a manicured eye forehead? take a glance on the historic past of flat music racing. What has been the dominate variety for some years? The XR750 of direction. And what Harley is the XR750 engines derived from? None different than a Sportster. De-stroked and rear cylinder became one hundred eighty levels. yet in its heart a Sportster engine. So, a Sportster is a genuine Harley. the line King is in basic terms an evolution of many different fashions. So I propose that the August adventure to be for Sportsters in basic terms. As relatively everyone be attentive to, Sturgis is a adventure in basic terms for Harley Davidsons. yet being it relatively is u.s., the city sorta shall we in all the different riff-raff. Then all the different Harleys and those "different" motorcycles might attend the enormous adventure in early March. I hear the snow seems large on the Presidents at Mount Rushmore. relatively seems stable on George Washington. The hair and eye brows are white with snow, so he feels like the artwork. As you factor out, 70% of the Harley Davidson bike sales are Sportsters. this is by using the fact those clever persons prefer to trip a bike with a fifty one 365 days historic past. As you be attentive to, Harley Davidson is all approximately historic past and nostalgia. Heck, the early settlers crossing the plains rode Harleys, no longer horses. And the natives they encountered and finally conquered and enslaved in reservations rode, you guessed it, Indians. chuffed New 365 days HD Williams from Max Cruise!!

Well you seem to be a good sized boy. I'm 6'1 and about 250. I rode a friends 1200 Sportster and it felt like I was on a 10 speed bicycle. I may have been more comfortable if it had forward controls, but I thought it was too small for me. I guess you have to go to a dealer and sit on a few.

i'm 6', 190 and i have no problems riding my 1200 as far as i want to in a sitting. current 'record' for a 1 day trip was 400 miles. i have the engine guard and a pair of highway pegs on it for when on the interstate. junk the stock seat tho and get a sundowner or ur azz will be sore within 70 miles. stock seats totally suck. and get a detachable windshield...the windblast will wear u out within 150 steady miles at high speed.

You'll own it for about two months and then wish you bought a heavier bike. I have an ultra classic, and it is awesome! Take one of those for a ride once and you'll be hooked.
