my thoughts is yes, optical mouse has no ball inside... which makes the users life a breeze because if you have ever opened up the bottom of the mouse where the ball is (usually rather easy by turning the plate around the ball) there are a few I guess you could call'em rollers that can get rather dirty and make your mouse not work as good as it should with the optical mouse this prevents things like that from happening....

BALL MOUSE WILL STRUCK SOMETIME BECAUSE OF DUST INSIDE THE MOUSE. AND THE LIFE OF THAT KIND MOUSE IS LESS COMPARE TO OPTICAL ONE.
MAINLY THE MANUFACTURING COST OF BALL MOUSE IS MORE THAN OPTICAL MOUSE EVEN THOUGH ITS LIFE IS LESS IS IT CLEAR DEAR

Yeah, um, it's just better cause there are less moving parts and the mouse movement is tracked better with an optical sensor.
