Back in the 1920s, Iraq's oil was split five ways: 23.75 percent each to Britain, France, Holland and the United States. The remaining 5 percent went to an oil baron named Caloste Gulbenkian, known as "Mr. Five-Percenter," who helped negotiate the agreement.

Exactly zero percent of Iraq's oil belonged to Iraq. That's how it was to stay until the revolution of 1958.

Then Saddam had a stronghold of it when he was in power. Now that he's out of the picture, the US and UK can regain control of it all. We taxpayers are funding it.

Where is this wrong information of $700 billion coming from?

"Bush to unveil budget dominated by military, Iraq
Washington, 06 February 2007
President George W. Bush is expected on Monday to estimate the costs for the Iraq war at nearly $300 billion over the next two years."

The US does not want to own Iraq. The removal of Saddam is accomplished, but Iraq has not gained stability yet on its own. The other reason for the US to remain in Iraq is that it borders Iran. Afghanistan is on the other side of Iran. It is a way to put pressure on the Iranian government without invading it.

George Bush will be out of office in a few years. It is not the desire of the US to "take over" other nations. We did get Germany and Japan back on track by occupying each country after World War 2. Have they become states and I didn't notice?

Many people are suffering in the Middle East. They will bring their suffering to us in the form of suicide bombers if we don't work hard to improve conditions in their countries.

We are not in Iraq to take it over. We are there for several reasons. The biggest and best reason is OIL. Iraq has the 2nd largest oil reserve in the world. If we let Iran take control of this supply the price of oil will go to levels we have never imagined.
If you think that we are evil for protecting our interest such as oil...Think about this. Everything and I mean everything we buy from a store took oil to get the materials to the factory, took oil to get the worker to the plant to make whatever from there it goes to a distributor, more oil...then to the store and yes you had to fill your car with gas to get there. Every aspect of our life is impacted by OIL so be grateful someone is protecting it! Every country has an ugly beginning like what we did to the Indians I am deeply sorry for this but I and no one that I know was alive then and I refuse to take responsibility for that. We are paying them back at all the casinos they have built. As for the Philippines. They asked us to leave back in the 1990's and we did.
Now they miss all of the money we use to put into their economy.

Why would Bush or anyone else in the Us want Iraq?
---What civilized and humane people DO want is a stable Mideast that is NOT a bunch of squabbling thugs all looking to take over theie neighbors turf...
Its too bad that the mideast is still mired in their generational religious and tribal warfare since all they have really accomplished for generations is bloodshed, hatred for anyone that the decide to blame for their "troubles" /failure to succeed*
* (succeed = more land/more prestige/more followers of their mullah.version of Islam).
Greedy leaders who lust after power have always and still do use and abuse their poorly educated/indoctrinated populations .
instilling a strong belief of threat from an "enemy", coerced compliance with the mission/cause/need to eradicate the enemy/threats simply to gain what??? The Gain is simply to fulfill their leaders (or mullahs) desires (power/wealth/adoration...etc)
The mid east could be a viable and productive asset to humanity However they traditionally choose to play tribal tit-for tat games all to preserve their what culture of hate thy enemy and breed more population for the next squabble...
No Bush doesnt want to take over any country...
A countries resources are the property of the country yet in the mideast the populations has little access to their wealth or the benefits they could provide...Sad yet true.

A Silly dream that will never come true !!!

Bush can enjoy their Oil, can kill them brutally but ofcourse can't merge Iraq in America....that would be big mistake if he tried to do so !! because Iraqis would never want this and they would realy resist then !! it would be better if Bush should not try to snatch their identity ! and i think bush is clever enough to know this very well !! can't say if he tries this after getting the whole middle east !

That's how much power the US has in the world. They are not ashamed of what they're doing, going to another country and destroying everything for years and years and years. America has always been expansionist historically. First they killed the Indians in America so they can have the land from them, then they went to Asia (Philippines), etc. Now they're in Iraq. So what's new?

There's no evidence to suggest that Bush intends to keep Iraq, much less incorporate it into the United States. If we wanted to do that, we'd start with Mexico. If he wanted to completely demolish the nation and make it a US subsidiary, he wouldn't have gone to the trouble of prodding them to create their own government, their own military, and so on. And he certainly wouldn't have put up with that pig-faced bastard al-Sadr for this long. Anyone who mistakes this for a war of conquest knows jack sh*t about the topic.

I think your question needs to be re-written.

"do you think he thinks he can take over the country and one day belong to America?"

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about.
