This is a question that I have contemplated myself, since I drafted Atlanta's defense this past season, in one of my fantasy leagues.

First, Michael Vick...ok not all of the problems are his fault. I am pretty sure that his receivers dropped the most passes all season long by any team. I mean their best receiver is their Tight End in Alge Crumpler. We here in New England have been going through the same kind of trouble so I can totally empathize. This is one point they NEED help in. I would be interested in seeing where Drew Bennett of the Titans will be going - he could be a great edition.

Second, something that not all Falcon fan's don't know is that when Michael Vick was drafted. Arthur Blank had all his coaches go to Virginia Tech, where Michael played, and were given permission to use all the plays that he was used to in college. This way he was able to use plays he knew, but in the NFL. What lengths do owners have to go to, to cater to their QB's? Obviously Mr. Blank went out of his way and he hasn't gotten the results that he has expected. I think that Michael hasn't learned the value of TEAM and perhaps someone that has a fresh playbook...I think that's why Petrino was hired. I guess we will have to see what happens.

Third, injuries totally riddled their defense. Their defense has WAY too much talent and experience to not win at least 10 games. Hopefully, this will turn around next season.

and finally...

The NFC South certainly was interesting. New Orleans wins 10 games and Tampa Bay ends up with only 4. With the precedence set by New Orleans this season as becoming the premier team in the NFC South...in order to compete in the division, you are going to have to play hard.

I think once these things are worked out Atlanta could return to the playoffs. I would like to see them there sometime soon.

In the NFC, any team can make the playoffs any year. Example: the Saints.

The Falcons have a decent team... everyone rips on Michael Vick because he's not a "true quarterback," but let's be honest.... besides Alge Crumpler, who does he have to throw to?

They need to sure up the offensive line, which was good last year but had some rough patches, draft some receivers so he has somewhere to go with the ball, and perhaps improve at the linebacker position.

Also, they need a coach that will STAY WITH THE GAME PLAN!!! They were playing well this year until they decided to all but abandon the run for a month and a half.

They will be another 8-8 or so team, untill they use Vick to perfection and get players that play they will not win a playoff game. They bring in Lelie and he drops ball, its that all game they run or he throws to Alge and then 1 time to his wrs, cant have a steady wr core like that. They need a new better offense and get there Def playmakers back. lets face it vicks years are running out. Right now they may be better with Matt who is a FA i think or even DJ with more awareness.

the Falcons organization dont know what they want.

i know Vick is not a true quaterback but hes good. he can still throw but when you got no one that catches the balls he throws its kinda hard. they got a run offense thats top tier in the NFL. A defense that had injury problems like alot of teams usually do.

ok here's what i would do. trade vick to either the Raiders or the Browns to get a top first and second or third round draft pick. draft a reciver like Calvin Johnson or Dwayne Jarrett and then a linebacker. everyone talks bout Schaub is a better qb than Vick so let him prove it.

i'm ashamed of you. you have a huge previous shaped D on your photograph, yet you're at right here saying a Detroit team sucks. look, the Lions are extra official than you may ever think of. They heavily win at will. THat final game against the bears, they might hav scored yet another landing or 2, yet they performed conservative and ran down the clock as a replace. They have been in the pink zone..then in basic terms saved working. do no longer you think of in the event that they actually needed to attain yet another TD that they might have in basic terms tossed it to Calvin Johnson? He did have one on one coverage, the commentator pointed it out. That game might weren't as close because it became into. As for the cowboys...do no longer you think of a team that gets beat down the 1st quarter, is going into the locker room and says "yeah, we are in basic terms going to return lower back and win now...i do no longer care how enormous of a lead they have" is stable? The Packers would not have got here lower back from a deficit like that. heavily, the clarification why the Lions are not impressing relatively relatively everyone seems to be by using the fact they're in actuality under appearing in the 1st a million/2. in the 2nd a million/2 they get a feeling of urgency and say "very nicely, we are in basic terms gonna %. it up and win now, no biggie" that's what makes them risky. they'll discover a thank you to win, in spite of regardless of if the protection must be the All Stars, the Offense or the two...they'll discover a thank you to win.

They need an Offensive minded gameplan that follows the Vince Young Gameplan, which was pass first run second. They need to draft get some recievers, and improve the oline. Other than that just get some depth on Defense.

Not unless they get better WR's for Vick. Too many dropped passes.
